Today, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, with the attendance of the governors of the cities (Erbil, Dohuk, Sulaymaniyah, Halabja) and the governors of the cities (Kurdistan, Kermanshah, West Azerbaijan), as well as the representative of the Velayat-e Faqih, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, and the Chairman of the Provincial Affairs Committee in the Iranian Parliament, the third joint meeting of governors from the border provinces of the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held.
During the meeting, which was attended by Kamaran Salah Bajgar, Deputy Chairman of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, the Director General of Kurdistan Region-Iran Relations, the heads of the Chambers of Commerce (Sulaymaniyah, Dohuk, and Halabja), representatives from the Iranian Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, and a number of other senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, several speeches were delivered emphasizing the strengthening of general relations between the two sides and enhancing commercial and economic activity between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region.
They also considered this meeting important and necessary for both sides, and expressed their support for agreement, understanding, and joint work to develop and expand economic interests between the two parties and strengthen movement and trade conditions at the border crossings between the Kurdistan Region and Iran. They expressed hope that through mutual cooperation and coordination, greater understanding and the establishment of necessary procedures and mechanisms would further develop trade and economic relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Several speeches were also delivered during this meeting by officials present from both sides.
